Overview

Funafuti International Airport is the only airport in Tuvalu and the nation's sole gateway for scheduled commercial flights. It is a small single-runway facility whose airstrip doubles as a community gathering space when no aircraft are present, and it is served by Fiji Airways flights to and from Suva.

Transport to city center

Funafuti's settlement surrounds the airport directly, so the town centre is a short walk or motorbike ride away. Most accommodations are within a few minutes of the runway.

Wi-Fi

Public WiFi is minimal at the airport, and connectivity across Tuvalu can be slow and intermittent.

Lounges

There are no dedicated airline or pay-per-use lounges at this small island airport.

Security & customs

Security and immigration are straightforward but conducted manually, so allow extra time. Have your passport and onward travel details ready for the small customs and immigration team.

Travel tips

Flights are infrequent and weather-dependent, so confirm your schedule in advance and arrive early as procedures are manual. Bring cash, as card facilities are very limited on the atoll.
