Overview

Gan International Airport is the main airport in the southern Maldives, serving Addu City on Gan Island. It handles domestic flights to Malé and a small number of international services, making it the country's secondary international gateway. It plays a key role in connecting the southern atolls.

Transport to city center

Gan is linked to the other Addu islands by causeways, so taxis and resort transfers reach Hithadhoo and the city's hotels within about 20–30 minutes.

Wi-Fi

Free WiFi is available in the terminal area.

Lounges

Lounge facilities are limited; a small waiting area serves premium passengers.

Security & customs

A free visa on arrival is granted to most nationalities with proof of onward travel and accommodation. Importing alcohol, pork, and religious idols is prohibited, so pack accordingly.

Travel tips

Domestic connections to Malé are essential for onward travel, so allow buffer time between flights. The southern atolls are quieter than the capital region, so plan transfers in advance.
