Overview

Munich Airport, named after Franz Josef Strauss, is Germany's second-busiest airport and a major hub for Lufthansa and Star Alliance. It is consistently rated among the best airports in Europe. It serves an extensive network of European and intercontinental destinations.

Transport to city center

S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 connect the airport to Munich's city center and main station in about 40–45 minutes, with the Lufthansa Express Bus and taxis also available.

Free unlimited WiFi is available throughout the terminals.

Lounges

Numerous lounges operate, especially in Terminal 2, including Lufthansa Senator and business lounges.

Security & customs

EU/EEA passport holders and eligible ePassport visitors can use the automated eGates. Germany is in Schengen, so intra-Schengen flights skip passport control; standard EU 100ml liquid rules apply.

Travel tips

Allow time to transfer between terminals, particularly to the T2 satellite via the automated train. The S-Bahn is the most economical route into the city.
