Overview
Sofia Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Bulgaria and the main gateway to the capital. It serves a mix of full-service and low-cost carriers across Europe and the Middle East. It handles the majority of the country's air traffic.
Transport to city center
Metro Line 4 connects Terminal 2 directly to the city center in about 20 minutes, with a free shuttle between terminals and taxis available outside arrivals.
Wi-Fi
Free WiFi is available throughout the terminals.
Lounges
Business lounges are available airside in Terminal 2.
Security & customs
Bulgaria joined the Schengen Area for air travel in 2024, so intra-Schengen flights skip passport control. EU/EEA passport holders can use eGates; standard EU 100ml liquid rules apply.
Travel tips
Use the metro for a fast, cheap trip downtown, and use only authorized OK Supertrans taxis from the official counter. Check which terminal your flight uses, as they are not adjacent.
