Overview

Ben Gurion Airport is Israel's main international gateway, located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. It is by far the country's largest and busiest airport and the hub for El Al and other Israeli carriers. The modern facility handles the vast majority of international traffic to and from Israel.

Transport to city center

A direct train connects the airport to Tel Aviv in around 15 minutes, with shared sherut vans and taxis also available. Trains run frequently except on Shabbat.

Wi-Fi

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminals.

Lounges

Multiple airline and independent lounges, including El Al's King David Lounge, are available in Terminal 3.

Security & customs

Security is rigorous and travellers are often interviewed before check-in, so allow at least three hours for international departures. Entry and exit are recorded electronically rather than with passport stamps.

Travel tips

Arrive early, as Israeli security screening is thorough and includes pre-flight questioning. The train is the fastest and cheapest way into central Tel Aviv.
