Auckland Airport is New Zealand's primary international gateway, handling 20+ million passengers and connecting to 40+ countries. A compact, efficient airport with the international and domestic terminals linked by a 10-minute walkway. New terminal developments are underway to meet growing Pacific demand.
Terminals
International Terminal and Domestic Terminal — connected by a covered walkway (10 min). A new domestic terminal is under construction. International departures have duty-free and Maori cultural installations.
Transport to city center
SkyBus to city centre (45–60 min, NZ$18 one way — runs 24/7). Auckland City Rail Link from Puhinui station (linked by shuttle, 45 min, NZ$4). Taxi/Uber: NZ$60–80 to city, 30–50 min. Multiple hotel shuttles available. No direct rapid transit rail — but the Airport to Botany Line is planned.
Lounges
Air New Zealand Koru lounge (excellent, accessible with Priority Pass in some tiers), Qantas Business lounge, Emirates lounge. The Air New Zealand First lounge offers exceptional New Zealand food and wine.
Travel tips
MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries) biosecurity is extremely strict — declare ALL food items. Fines for undeclared food are significant. Allow extra time at customs/biosecurity. The international departures duty-free has excellent New Zealand wine and Manuka honey.
