Overview
Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport handles 15+ million passengers and has been significantly expanded and modernized in recent years. Located 16km southeast of the city, it's a busy hub for Wizz Air and Ryanair as well as traditional carriers. The new Skycourt terminal section is modern and well-equipped.
Terminals
Terminal 2A (Schengen) and 2B (non-Schengen) — connected airside. The original Terminal 1 is closed. Well-organized and reasonably efficient even during peak hours.
Transport to city center
100E airport shuttle bus to Deák Ferenc tér (30–40 min, HUF 1200) — most convenient. Bus 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest Metro M3 then metro (60 min total, standard city ticket). Taxi: HUF 8000–12000, 25–40 min. Bolt or Uber: HUF 5000–8000.
Lounges
Sky Court Lounge (Priority Pass), LoungeBUD, and several airline-specific lounges. The Sky Court area has the best facilities.
Travel tips
The 100E airport shuttle is the recommended option for most travellers — direct, frequent, and drops at the central metro hub. Bolt is much cheaper than metered airport taxis. Hungarian Forint cash is useful for small purchases — but cards are increasingly accepted everywhere.
