Overview
Cairo International Airport is Egypt's largest and busiest airport and the primary gateway to the Middle East and Africa. It serves as the main hub for EgyptAir and a Star Alliance hub, handling tens of millions of passengers a year.
Terminals
The airport has three main passenger terminals, with Terminal 3 being the largest and home to EgyptAir and its partners. Terminals are connected by a free shuttle bus and an automated people mover linking T2 and T3.
Transport to city center
Taxis and ride-hailing apps reach downtown Cairo in around 45 minutes, while air-conditioned airport buses serve major districts. A metro line extension also connects the area to the city's rapid transit network.
Lounges
Multiple lounges are available, including EgyptAir lounges and Plaza Premium and Pearl pay-per-use lounges across the terminals.
Travel tips
Arrive early as security and immigration queues can be long during peak hours. A tourist visa on arrival can be bought at bank kiosks before passport control.
