José María Córdova International Airport (MDE)
Medellín, Colombia
Overview
José María Córdova International Airport is the main international airport serving Medellín, located in the nearby town of Rionegro. It is one of Colombia's busiest airports and the principal long-haul gateway for the Antioquia region. A smaller in-city airport, Olaya Herrera, handles regional turboprop flights.
Terminals
A single terminal handles domestic and international services with adjoining concourses and jet bridges.
Transport to city center
Shared shuttle vans, official taxis, and ride-hailing apps connect the airport to Medellín, a scenic drive through the mountains. The trip downtown usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour.
Lounges
Independent and bank-sponsored lounges are available in the departures area, several accessible via Priority Pass.
Travel tips
The airport sits at high altitude and is noticeably cooler than the city, so dress in layers. Budget extra time for the winding mountain road in poor weather.
