Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP)

Overview

Henri Coandă International Airport, also known as Otopeni, is Romania's largest and busiest airport and the main hub for TAROM. It is the primary international gateway to the country. The airport serves a wide network of European and intercontinental destinations.

Terminals

It operates with separate departures and arrivals terminals connected within a single complex, handling all scheduled flights.

Transport to city center

The city center is about 18 km away; express bus 783 and a rail link connect to central Bucharest, with official taxis and ride-hailing also available.

Lounges

Several business lounges operate airside, including the TAROM lounge.

Travel tips

Use the official taxi machines in the arrivals hall or ride-hailing apps to get a fair fare. Allow time during peak periods as the terminal can get crowded.

Free WiFi is available throughout the terminal.

Security and arrival

Romania joined the Schengen Area for air travel in 2024, so passport control no longer applies on intra-Schengen flights. EU/EEA passport holders can use eGates; standard EU 100ml liquid rules apply.
