Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO)
Quito, Ecuador
Overview
Mariscal Sucre International Airport is the primary airport serving Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Opened in 2013 in the Tababela valley, it is one of the busiest airports in the country and a major gateway to the Andes and the Galápagos connections. It serves as a hub for domestic and international carriers.
Terminals
A single modern terminal handles all domestic and international flights with separate concourses and jet bridges.
Transport to city center
The airport is well outside Quito, so transfers by official taxi, shuttle van, or the Aeroservicios bus take time. The drive to the historic center can run from 45 minutes to over an hour.
Lounges
Several lounges, including airline and independent options, serve premium and Priority Pass passengers.
Travel tips
Quito sits at high altitude, so take it easy on arrival to adjust. Allow generous time for the long transfer between the airport and the city, especially in traffic.
