Overview
Colombo is South Asia's most underrated city — a colonial port reinventing itself as a food and culture destination. Dutch and British colonial architecture stands beside Buddhist temples and Hindu kovils, while the Galle Face Green seafront promenade and the Pettah market labyrinth offer authentic Sri Lankan life. The restaurant scene in Colombo 3 (Cinnamon Gardens) is genuinely excellent.

Getting around
PickMe app for tuk-tuks and taxis is best. The Colombo Light Rail is under construction. Trains from Fort Station reach Galle (south coast) and Kandy (hill country) — scenic and cheap. Tuk-tuks for short distances — negotiate price upfront.
