Overview
Cox's Bazar boasts one of the world's longest unbroken natural sea beaches, stretching some 120 kilometers along the Bay of Bengal. It is Bangladesh's premier domestic beach resort, popular for sunsets, seafood, and laid-back coastal strolls. Fishing villages and palm-fringed shores define its relaxed character.
Getting around
Auto-rickshaws, battery-powered tom-toms, and rented bikes cover the beach strip and town easily.
Local etiquette
Dress modestly away from the immediate beach, and ask permission before photographing local fishers or families.
Safety
The resort area is fairly safe, but swim with caution due to strong currents and avoid isolated stretches of beach after dark.
