Overview
Azerbaijan is a relatively affordable destination for international travelers, with Baku being the most expensive city while rural areas and regions outside the capital offer significantly lower costs. Accommodation and dining are the primary expenses, though local transport is extremely cheap. Oil wealth has elevated prices somewhat compared to neighboring Georgia or Armenia, but it remains good value compared to Western Europe.
Notes
Use the Baku Metro and city buses for transportation as they cost just 0.25 USD per ride, and eat at local teahouses and pide restaurants to enjoy filling traditional meals for under 5 USD.
