Overview
Comoros is a relatively affordable destination by African island standards, though limited tourism infrastructure and scarce competition among hotels and restaurants can push prices higher than expected for the quality received. Getting to and around the islands is often the biggest cost driver, as inter-island flights and boat transfers add up quickly. Overall it sits in a moderate budget range, cheaper than nearby Seychelles or Réunion but pricier than mainland East Africa.
Notes
Eat at local street stalls and small family-run guesthouses called 'bandas' to significantly cut food and accommodation costs, and opt for shared taxi-brousse vehicles instead of private taxis for getting between towns.
