Overview
Estonia is one of the more affordable destinations in the European Union, though Tallinn's Old Town tourist area can push prices noticeably higher than the rest of the country. Accommodation and dining represent the largest share of daily costs, with food and transport remaining relatively budget-friendly by Western European standards. Costs have risen in recent years due to inflation and increased tourism demand, particularly in the capital.
Notes
Eating at lunch specials (päevapraad) offered by most Estonian restaurants on weekdays typically gets you a full meal with soup and a main course for around 6-9 USD — an excellent way to eat well without spending much. Tallinn's public transport is efficient and very cheap, so avoid taxis in the city center whenever possible.
