Overview

Palestine (the West Bank and Gaza-adjacent areas accessible to tourists, primarily Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho, and Nablus) is relatively affordable by Middle Eastern standards, with local food and transport being quite cheap. However, costs can rise due to limited accommodation options in some areas, the need to pass through Israeli-controlled checkpoints which can complicate logistics, and the reliance on Israeli shekel-pegged pricing in many tourist-facing businesses. Mid-range and luxury options are concentrated mainly in Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Notes

Eat at local falafel shops and hummus restaurants to keep food costs very low, and use shared service taxis (servees) between cities for a fraction of private taxi prices. Booking accommodation in advance is advisable as options are limited outside main towns.
