Overview
Serbia is one of the most affordable destinations in Europe, with Belgrade offering excellent value compared to Western European capitals. Food, drinks, and local transport are notably cheap, though mid-range and luxury accommodation in Belgrade has risen in price in recent years. The biggest cost variable for travelers is accommodation, as eating and drinking out remains very inexpensive even at decent restaurants.
Notes
Use the extensive and cheap bus and tram network in Belgrade instead of taxis, and eat at local kafanas or market eateries where a full meal with a drink can cost under $5. Paying in Serbian dinars with cash often yields slightly better prices than card payments.
