Overview
Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in Asia, with accommodation and dining at restaurants being the primary cost drivers for international travelers. However, budget travelers can keep costs manageable by eating at hawker centres, where excellent local food is available for just a few dollars, and using the efficient and affordable MRT and bus network. Luxury travelers will find world-class hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and high-end experiences readily available at prices comparable to top Western cities.
Notes
Eat most meals at hawker centres and food courts — dishes like chicken rice, laksa, and char kway teow cost $3–6 USD and are genuinely excellent quality. The EZ-Link transit card offers seamless, cheap access to the MRT and buses, making taxis largely unnecessary.
