Overview
Uzbekistan is one of the most affordable destinations in Central Asia, with food, local transport, and accommodation being remarkably cheap by international standards. The biggest costs for travelers tend to be entrance fees to the numerous UNESCO-listed historical sites in cities like Samarkand and Bukhara, as well as intercity travel. Overall, even mid-range travelers can explore the country comfortably without spending much.
Notes
Use the extensive and extremely cheap shared taxi and marshrutka (minibus) network for intercity travel instead of private taxis, and eat at local teahouses (chaikhanas) where a filling plov or lagman meal costs under $3.
