Getting Around Paris
Overview
Paris has an excellent public transport network covering the city and surrounding region, though some areas require multiple line changes.
Metro
16 Metro lines covering the city. Runs 5:30am–1:15am (2:15am weekends). Single ticket €2.15. Carnet of 10 tickets or Navigo pass recommended.
Bus
Over 300 bus lines. Slower than metro but great for seeing the city. Night buses (Noctilien) run when metro is closed.
Taxi
Plentiful at taxi ranks. Metered. Fixed rates from airports. G7 and Uber both reliable.
Rideshare
Uber widely available and competitive with taxis. Also Bolt and Free Now.
Bicycle
Vélib' bike-share with 1,400+ stations. Electric and regular bikes. Day pass €5.
Walkability
Central Paris is very walkable. Most major sights are within walking distance of each other.
Travel card
Navigo Easy (disposable) or Navigo (weekly/monthly). Paris Visite tourist pass for multi-day visits.
