Overview
Cairo International Airport is Egypt's largest and busiest airport and the primary gateway to the Middle East and Africa. It serves as the main hub for EgyptAir and a Star Alliance hub, handling tens of millions of passengers a year.
Transport to city center
Taxis and ride-hailing apps reach downtown Cairo in around 45 minutes, while air-conditioned airport buses serve major districts. A metro line extension also connects the area to the city's rapid transit network.
Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminals after a quick registration.
Lounges
Multiple lounges are available, including EgyptAir lounges and Plaza Premium and Pearl pay-per-use lounges across the terminals.
Security & customs
There are two layers of security screening, one at the entrance and one at the gate, so allow extra time. Keep your boarding pass and passport handy for repeated checks.
Travel tips
Arrive early as security and immigration queues can be long during peak hours. A tourist visa on arrival can be bought at bank kiosks before passport control.
