Overview

The Federated States of Micronesia is a moderately expensive destination for international travelers, primarily because nearly all goods — including food and fuel — must be imported across vast distances in the Pacific. Flights to reach FSM are costly and infrequent, and accommodation options are limited, especially outside of Pohnpei and Chuuk, keeping prices elevated even for budget travelers. Diving and water activities are world-class but add significant cost to a typical itinerary.
