- Best time to visit
- Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) offer warm seas and fewer crowds than peak summer.
Visa requirements
EU citizens travel freely, and many others can enter visa-free or with a Schengen/e-visa for short stays in the Republic of Cyprus.
Getting around
There are no trains, so intercity buses and rental cars are the norm, with urban buses and taxis covering towns.
Safety
Cyprus is very safe with low crime; the main caution is around the divided capital and crossing the UN buffer zone between the south and north. Use official checkpoints.
Tipping customs
A 10% tip is customary in restaurants where service isn't already included; rounding up taxis is appreciated.
Travel tips
Cards are widely accepted and English is broadly spoken. Renting a car is the easiest way to explore. Note that driving is on the left.
